These are our key beliefs:
We believe in Jesus
Christ, the eternal Son of God as the only mediator between
sinful man and a holy God. We believe a person is saved by
faith in Jesus Christ, His death, burial and resurrection.
We believe the Bible to be the inspired,
and only infallible, authoritative Word of God. Therefore,
Bible teaching is of extreme importance.
We believe that the true basis of
Christian fellowship is His Love, which is greater than any
differences we possess.
We believe worship of God should be
a spiritual experience and is both intellectual and mysterious.
Therefore, we remain flexible and yielding to the leading
of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship, and a prominent
place is given to music and the arts.
More specifically:
The Nature
of God
We believe in one God, revealed in
three distinct “persons”, Father, Son & Holy
Spirit.
We believe God is Omnipotent (all
powerful), and therefore sovereign over all.
We believe God is Omniscient (all
knowing), possessing all knowledge, of all things, for all
time.
We believe God is Omnipresent (present
everywhere at the same time), near to all creation at all
times.
We believe God is Holy, perfect in
Purity, Righteousness, & Justice.
We believe God Almighty created the
universe, the heavens, the Earth, and mankind. This was done
solely by the power of the word of God. God created everything
from nothing (Creatio ex nihilo).
The Nature
Of Christ
We believe Jesus
Christ is God in human flesh. He is fully divine and fully
man. We believe God became human in Jesus, through the miracle
of the virgin birth.
We believe Jesus
lived a perfect, sinless life on Earth.
The Nature
of Man
We believe man was
created in God’s image, and created to glorify Him and
to have eternal fellowship with Him.
We believe man was
created with freewill, and chose to disobey God. We believe
sin entered the world and mankind through this disobedience
(through Adam). Ever since, EVERY person has, and is, born
into this world sinful and separated from Holy God.
The Bible
We believe the Bible
is God’s written revelation to mankind. We believe the
scriptures are absolutely inerrant and infallible in the original
documents.
Atonement
& The Resurrection
We believe that Jesus’ death
on the cross was the perfect sacrifice required to atone for
the sin of mankind. We believe Christ’s death alone
allows for man to be reconciled to Holy God.
We believe Jesus physically died upon
the cross at Calvary.
We believe His body was placed in
the tomb, and on the third day his body was resurrected, just
as He and the scriptures had foretold.
Salvation
We believe we are saved from eternal
punishment and separation from God, solely by God’s
amazing grace, which we experience through faith. We believe
there is nothing man can do to earn or achieve salvation on
his own. We believe hell is a real place where those who reject
Jesus and His truth will spend eternity.
We believe salvation is only available
through faith in Jesus Christ.

Coastlands Church exists to show
people what it looks like when a community of people live
under the reign of God. We are God's people, sent into our
communities to extend his grace and make a difference.
As we creatively
express our love for God, it is our prayer that people become
true followers of Jesus Christ and go on to help change the
world.
At Coastlands we
pledge ourselves to the following covenant with God:
• I will be
a person of integrity.
• I will pursue consistent spiritual growth.
• I will speak and live a relevant, authentic and consistent
Christian life.
• I will seek opportunities to serve others in Christ's
name.
• I will honor my body as the temple of God, dedicated
to a lifestyle of purity.
• I will be godly in all things, Christlike in all relationships.
Being a Christian
means breaking away from trite, laissez faire Christian living
and accepting the challenge of the divine life, to consecrated
recklessness for Christ, to devotion in the face of ridiculing
contemporaries.
Finally, we hope
and pray that when you visit Coastlands you will experience
the following:
• A welcoming
environment, knowing that people are looking for a place to
belong.
• A place of intimate community where the presence of
Jesus is obvious.
• Narrative evangelism that listens to everyone's story
and connects us with God's story.
• An embodied apologetic that begins with the heart,
not proclamation.
• Relationships that allow people to unpack the pain
and hurts of their lives.
• Worship centered on Christ.
• Interactive learning, knowing that is how we best
learn.
• Nurturing, team leadership focused on mentoring and
raising new leaders.
• A saving hope for the future that looks at life in
the present from a future perspective.
